Paintings by A. Andrew Gonzalez

I stumbled upon the most amazing paintings yesterday. At first I thought they were sculptures or carvings but they are airbrushed acrylics on panel or canvas. These beauties are the work of A. Andrew Gonzalez. Even more remarkable, Gonzalez has no formal art education but was raised in a creative family and is largely self-taught. His style is exquisite and and very distinctive. Influenced by idealism in the mystical, visionary and esoteric traditions, his forms, values and highlighting are created by lifting pigment with an abrasive eraser followed by the application of transparent layers of pigment.
