The Illustrations of Mercer Mayer
I have many fond memories of the books I read as a child and early teen. I’ve been trying to track some of them down to read them again and share them with my nephews. One of my favorite series was “The Great Brain” books by John D. Fitzgerald. I was especially fond of the illustrations in the book done by Mercer Mayer. While learning more about Mayer and his work, I’ve discovered several other childhood favorites of mine. Mayer is both a writer and illustrator and has published over 300 books. He is probably best known for his “Little Critter” and “Little Monster” series of books. My favorites are the illustrations he created for fairy tales and classic stories re-telling.
